Ferguson Studios began when Douglas M. Ferguson, born on 7/21/66 in Akron,
OH, was introduced to Torchworking in the summer of 1997. Since then he has been developing his skills with Borosilicate Glass through a playful spirit of experimentation and energetic curiosity. This has inspired a wide range of art including Sculptures, Goblets, Blown Vessels, Beads, Marbles, and a little bit of everything in between. As Douglas still loves to make glass come alive in many forms, he has found great happiness in marbles.
Douglas is one of the featured Artists in the Contemporary Marbles and related Art
Glass Book. He is also a member of The Glass Art Society, The Sea~Tac Marble Club and A Life Contributor of The Collectors Society of America. One highlight for Ferguson Studios is attending the Sea~Tac Marble Meets and has been since 1999.
Stationed in Berkeley, Ca Douglas has traveled to attend various workshops held by
Robert Mickelsen and Ralf Greiner-Adam. In doing so he has opened his horizons and developed quite a talent for teaching his own students.
One of his students is his fiancée Melissa L. Ferguson, born on 7/24/76 in the San
Francisco Bay Area, CA, and a single Mother of two lovely boys. Melissa's diverse talents from photography, customer relations, to making marbles have become a great asset to Ferguson Studios. Now Melissa & Douglas are a team. They will be married on June 22, 2002. |
